The Consolation Walk is a walk from Kagugu to Gakinjiro organized by Root Foundation on the International Day of the African Child to raise awareness for underprivileged education in Africa.
We listen, share stories and testimonies, encourage and have an open ear for the children who used to live the street life.
Our only focus on this day will be the child and its (educative) needs.
Root Foundation’s 5 years of experience in interacting and working towards a change in the lives of street children has made us realize that changing a life does not only require to give money, but also to show love.
Showing love in the form of giving time, listening, giving advice and sharing hope can have an enormous impact on a child. We are the witnesses of how a very simple gesture of care can bring someone back to life.
The walk will take place on June 16th, 2018 from 9am to 2pm.
Kagugu – Kinyinya –Gasabo – Kigali
Guided by former street children who are now part of Root Foundation, we will start our walk at the office of Root Foundation in Kagugu and end at Gakinjiro, Gisozi, the place where most of our children spent their time before joining Root Foundation.
Later on, all participants will gather together, share stories and gifts and spend some quality time with one another.
