Film screening

Film screening by Goethe-Institut This week will screen the movie “Exil” by Visar Morina which deals with the questions of identity, belonging and discrimination. The film will be in German with English subtitles.

The film tells the story of a man with a Kosovar migration history who lives in Germany with his wife and their three children.

He feels bullied and harassed by his work environment and sees himself increasingly excluded from the German community – or is he simply behaving obnoxiously, regardless of his affiliation, as his wife tells him?

In his search for answers, he threatens to get lost in the hallways of his workplace and behind darkened windows – in his exile.

The film drama is about our perceptions of alienation as well as exclusion and tells a multi-layered story about the fragility of German society, which is believed to be open.

The director Visar Morina himself comes from Kosovo and has had similar experiences as the protagonist, which is why the basic conflict as well as the emotionality of “Exile” has autobiographical features.
